Crisis averted!

I'm so proud of myself! I had a "challenge" today and I totally handled it and overcame it with flying colors. It started mid-afternoon, I could NOT get my hand out of the kettlecorn I bought last night and ended up with one point left for dinner. I had a mild freak out because I realized this around 3 and I still had a while to go (obviously) before dinner. After I got a handle on myself, I decided that instead of using flex points, I would try and actually stay within my point. The first thing I decided to do was to go workout- I needed to get in my cardio today anyway and sitting here in the house thinking about food would cause me to doom myself to failure for sure, I knew that. So I went on a nice bike ride with Marty. I haven't seen him in quite awhile and we were on the phone laughing about something and I just asked him if he wanted to go for a ride and he was totally down. We rode 20 miles- up to Seal Beach and back along the beach path...it was an absolutely beautiful ride because the sun was really low in the sky on our way home and the ocean was absolutely gorgeous, but it was also a tough ride because the wind would not let up and it just kept handing us a beating. When I got home, it was about 5:30. Still a little early to eat dinner, so I decided to take a shower and get cleaned up and ready for the evening (LOST party tonight!). By the time I was done getting cleaned up, it was 6:30 ish. I folded some laundry and made some work calls, and at 7, it was time. I couldn't wait anymore, I was STARVING.

So what did I have? I only had one point left! I ended up having this delicious meal:

3 egg whites- for 1 point
a whole wheat tortilla from LaTortilla Factory (the ones that are 50 calories are 0 points for 1)
a little bit of spray butter and hot sauce for flavoring
grilled asparagus with a little salt and spray butter for 0 points
grilled spinach for 0 points.
a large glass of water with some Crystal Light for flavor!

This 1 point dinner was actually pretty delicious! I've never grilled asparagus before but I totally recommend it- it was so tasty! When I was done eating I felt satisfied and happy.

Way to go me! I feel awesome about my creativity for dinner tonight- I ate something totally healthy, I got two more veggies in, my whole wheat in, and one more liquid before the eating part of my day was over. Knowing my body and the fact that I worked out, I will probably be hungry before I go to bed tonight, but it's good to go to bed without a full stomach- I sleep better. PLUS, I still have my flex points if I need them for the party tonight or if I want a treat when I get home. :) Awesome!

What do you do when you find yourself in these crisis situations?
